Proofread and check your article, then it's time to start sending your article to those publishers who are dying for your fresh, new content! So how do you find them, and get your article to them? There are several ways.

First, publish your work to free content mailing lists where publishers subscribe for the sole reason of receiving content. 7. Create Blogs

Blogs are highly effective in building links of relevant web pages. Blogs can increase the link popularity and relevancy, therefore increasing natural rankings. Blogs can be useful for marketing and research purposes, and to drive traffic to specific landing pages on your web site. When you use pay-per-click engines, you are effectively paying to have a high ranking position for certain keywords, on certain search engines. You can buy traffic directly from several portals, 1,000 visitors, 5,000 visitors, 10,000 visitors. This is anothe alternative. However, you have to check for the quality of the traffic you are getting for your money.


10. Other Ways to Generate Traffic

Participate in trade shows, conferences, and specialized seminaries. You can find offline traffic generating strategies useful. Advertise offline your web site. This is a good alternative to pay-per-click engines.

Of course there are other sources of targeted, ads in magazines and newspapers, for example.


I recommend that you use a combination of all of the above methods to attract targeted traffic to your web site - of course, that's not the end of the road in terms of web site profitability. You then need to ensure that a proportion of this targeted traffic converts into paying customers. Once you've mastered this too, you are well on your way to online success.

2. Simple account management


a. How do I create a new account?
  1. Click the Account Login tab, located in green on the upper right side of our home page.
  2. Create a username and password (of at least six digits each) under the New Customers section of the Account Login page.
  3. Press the Continue button.
  4. Complete the Default Account Contact Information. For each domain registration you are required to supply contact information for 4 different contact types: Registrant (owner), Administrator, Technical and Billing. The Contact edit page allows you to enter one set of information for all 4 contact types. Simply checkmark the boxes corresponding to each type at the bottom of the edit page when you enter in your Registrant contact information.
  5. Click the My Account button to view your account.


b. How do I log into my account?
  1. Click the Account Login tab on our home page.
  2. Enter your username and password under the Returning Customers section of the Account Login page. Remember: username and password are case sensitive.
  3. Press the Sign Inbutton.


c. How do I register a domain name?
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the "Hello" page, click "Register a Domain," located across the top of the page.
  3. Follow steps 1-3 of "Find a Web Address."
  4. Checkmark the resultant domain name(s) you wish to purchase. Click "Add to Cart."
  5. In "Your Shopping Cart," checkmark your desired term of registration (1 year, 2 year, etc.).
  6. Now, click "Update" and then "Checkout."
  7. At the "Billing Information" screen, enter your credit card or PayPal information, checkmark the Service Agreement box, and press "Place My Order"
That's it! After the order has processed (within a few seconds) the browser should refresh with an indication of the success or failure of your purchase. d. How do I manage my domain names?

Congratulations! You’ve made it to the management page. **Please note: If your domain name is locked, you will need to click "Unlock Domain" before you may begin management.

e. How do I unlock my domain name?
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the "Hello" page, click on your domain name, listed near the bottom of the page.
  3. On the "Manage domain name" screen, click "Unlock Domain."
  4. Read the posted message, and press "Continue managing domain."
Note: you may re-lock your domain after purchasing the renewal. Simply click the "Lock Domain"? feature on the "Manage domain name"? page.

f. What are "Monitored Only Domains?"
You can add a domain name to a list of names that you would like to monitor. When monitoring a domain name you can check, track, and store information like link popularity, Alexa rank, whois information, and more.

You may do this by clicking the SELECT button next to "Add a domain to monitor" on your account Welcome page.

3. Account changes


a. What if I have forgotten my password?
  1. Visit the Name.com home page.
  2. Directly under the login form, click the "Forgot your username or password?" link.
  3. Enter your username or the name of one of your domains in your account into the box. Press "Get Password."
A link will be sent to the address listed as the Administrative Contact for the account. Clicking this link will bring you to a page that will allow you change your account login password.

What if my Administrative Contact email address is not correct?

If you wish to receive your login information at an address that is different then administrative email address on file, we must first verify your identity. We are able to do this one of two ways:

1. We can call the phone number you have listed as your Administrative Contact, during our normal business hours. Our hours are Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm Mountain Standard Time.

2. You can send us a notarized letter stating your identity. If you choose this option please include your account username, and the email address you would like to have the information sent to. The address to send this to is:

b. How do I change my password?

  2. At the "Hello" page, click the select button marked - Edit Account Defaults
  3. Complete the Default Account Contact Information. For each domain registration you are required to supply contact information for 4 different contact types: Registrant (owner), Administrator, Technical and Billing.
  4. Click "Update."


d. How do I create a Sub Account?
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the "Hello" page, click "Create and manage sub accounts."

4. Standard domain name management


a. How do I set-up URL forwarding?
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the “Hello” page, click on your domain name.On the “Manage domain name” screen, click “URL Forwarding.”
  3. Next, read the explanatory matter, and press “Enable URL forwarding for YOURDOMAINNAME.COM.”
  4. After the “Point to,” enter the full web address to which you wish to direct your domain name. (Please note: you cannot point a third level domain name, abc.abcd.com for instance, in this way.)
  5. Choose, using the drop-down menu, whether to employ “masked” or “redirect” forwarding. Masked forwarding will not indicate, in the frame of a web browser, that a user has moved from your domain to third party website. Redirect will.
  6. Optional: Enter a “Page Title,” which will appear in the browser frame, and “Mega Tags.”
  7. Press “Update.”

That’s it! Your URL forwarding setting has now been established.

Please make sure your domain name is using our default name servers. If it is not, you must exchange the servers currently in place with our servers for URL forwarding to function properly. (Remember: changing servers will delay the start of URL forwarding by 24 hours.)



b. How do I set-up e-mail forwarding?
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the “Hello” page, click on your domain name, listed towards the bottom of the page.
  3. On the “Manage domain name” screen, click “Email Services.”
  4. Next, in the “Email Forwarding” box, create your desired email forwarding address, and enter the recipient address in the “This Address” slot.
  5. Press “Submit.”

That’s it! Email sent to your email forwarding address will now reach your recipient address.

Please make sure your domain name is using our default name servers. If it is not, you must exchange the servers currently in place with our servers for email forwarding to function properly. (Remember: changing servers will delay the start of email forwarding by 24 hours.)



c. How do I modify my domain name
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the "Hello" page, click on your domain name, listed towards the bottom of the page.
  3. On the "Manage domain name" screen, click "Edit Contacts."
  4. Next, click the "Edit" button under "Registrant."
  5. Enter your new contact information, checkmark the appropriate boxes, and press "Continue."

That's it! In roughly 24 hours, Whois will reflect your new contact information.



d. Why is my domain name resolving to a parking page?

All newly registered names are automatically pointed to our parking page, which acts as a place holder for your domain. When you point your name to a pre-existing or new website, the parking page disappears.

Our parking page may contain third-party advertisements, links to other products and services offered by Name.com, and interfaces to other web pages, including search engines. You will not receive notice regarding the additional content located on our parking page, and such content may be modified at any time.

You can read more about the parking page in our Registration Agreement, section #22. You can find this Agreement at http://www.name.com/registration_agreement.php.
If you have any objection to having your domain pointed to our parking page, please let us know.



f. How can I make changes to many or all of my domain names at once?
  1. Login to your Name.com account.
  2. At the "Hello" page, click the "Show Bulk Domain Management" link.
  3. In the "Bulk Management Options" box, click either "Modify all names..." or Modify only selected names..."

The next screen will offer you the options of modifying your default contact information, name servers, domain lock, URL forwarding and DNS records.



5. Domain Name System (DNS) management


a. What is a name, DNS, or host server?
A name server is an electronic routing agent for a domain that tells a user's computer where to go on the Internet in order to find the domain's web site.

b. How many name servers should I have?
Most hosting companies will give you a primary and secondary name server to use. However, some hosting services will provide you with three or more. You should use all name servers offered as part of your hosting package.

c. How do I change my name servers?
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the "Hello" page, click on the domain name.
  3. On the "Manage domain name" screen, click "Edit Name Servers."
  4. "Remove" the old servers, and "Add" the new.

That's it! In roughly 24 hours, your name server propagation will complete.



d. How do I create my own name servers?
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the "Hello" page, click on your domain name, listed across the bottom of the page.
  3. On the "Manage domain name" screen, click "Register a Name Server."
  4. Enter the prefix (e.g. ns1) in the "Host Name" field. Press "Continue."
  5. Now enter the corresponding IP address. Press "Add IP."

Note: you can create as many name servers you'd like, but each server must resolve to a unique IP address.

Also note: the “Register a Name Server” and “Modify a Name Server” pages will not list the name servers you have created.



e. How do I modify a name server once it has been created?
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the "Hello"? page, click on the relevant domain name.
  3. On the "Manage domain name"? screen, click "Modify a Name Server."?
  4. Next, enter the prefix for your server (e.g. NS1, DNS1, etc.), select "Delete IP from Name Server,"? and type in the old IP address. Press "Continue."?
  5. Now you’re ready to add the new IP address for your server.

  6. Click "Continue managing name server"? to return to the appropriate page.
  7. Enter the server prefix once more.
  8. Now, select "Add IP to Name Server"? from the drop down menu, and enter the new IP address. Press "Continue."?

That’s it! Your name server update should complete within the next 24 hours.



f. What is a Host record?
A host record is an electronic set of instructions attached to a domain's name servers that signals the location of the domain. By creating a host record, a customer directs traffic to the correct location of the domain. A host record is established when the "URL forwarding" option is used and points the domain towards our forwarding server, which in turn points the domain towards its location on the web. A host record can also be created without using the "URL forwarding" option. If a host record is created in such a way, the domain will point to a particular IP address without masking the location of the address.

g. Why create a host record, instead of using URL (masked) forwarding?
A host record generated creates a direct channel from the domain name to its intended IP address, without the mediation of our forwarding server. Thus, a host record that is not incorporated into our URL forwarding service will not mask the pointing of the domain. Customers may find this useful if the location of their domain is directly related to their domain name.

h. What is a MX record?
A MX records is an electronic set of instructions that routes email to your email server.

i. How do I add a DNS (MX, A, TXT, CNAME, etc.) record?
  1. Go to Name.com, and login to your account.
  2. At the "Hello" page, click on your domain name, listed across the bottom of the page.
  3. On the "Manage domain name" screen, choose the "DNS Management" option, listed on the left side of the page.
  4. Next, on the "DNS Management - Record" screen, click the applicable "Add a record" link.
  5. Fill out the empty fields with the appropriate information. (If you do not know what to enter, ask your web host, IT department, etc.)
  6. Press "Submit."

After doing this last step, the page should refresh, reading across the top of the page: "A record has been added for yourdomainname.com." To verify the creation of the record, click "Continue managing domain." You should now see your newly created DNS record listed on the "DNS Management - Record" screen.

Please note: Your domain name must be using our name servers, ns1.name.com and ns2.name.com, for your newly created DNS record to work. To check whether your domain is using our servers, click "Edit Name Servers" on the "Manage domain name" screen. Under "Current Name Servers," you should see our pair listed. If not, you will need to remove the servers currently in place and add ours. If you need to make this change, please be aware that your DNS record will go "live" 24 hours after the change has been made.



6. Web and e-mail hosting


a. How do I purchase web hosting?
Unfortunately we do not offer Web hosting at this time. If you wish to purchase a web hosting account with a third party, we make it easy to point your domain name to your web host provider. To change the name servers associated with your domain name, please follow these steps: 1. Log into your account. 2. At the "Hello" page, click on the domain name. 3. On the "Manage domain name" screen, click "Edit Name Servers." 4. "Remove" the old servers, and "Add" the new. That's it! In roughly 24 hours, your name server propagation will complete.

b. Do you support ASP?
We do not support any sort of server side ASP. Any ASP features that do work are client side (i.e. handled by the browser). A majority, if not all, of the ASP client side functions only work in Internet Explorer. This is due to the fact that many of the ASP functions use windows libraries that are tied into the browser. For server side functionality we recommend php which is provided with our hosting. For client side functionality we recommend javascript which is supported in all major browsers.

c. How is my web hosting account billed?
When you order web hosting, a billing profile is created for your domain name. You are automatically billed at the beginning of each cycle (monthly/yearly). If you wish to cancel your hosting account/recurring billing profile, please let us know at support@name.com. Your cancelation request must be made from the Administrative Contact email address for your account.

d. How do I purchase e-mail hosting?
Information about our e-mail hosting packages can be found at http://www.name.com/email_services/email_info.php. Once you are ready to purchase e-mail hosting for your name, please click on the "Purchases Email Services for Your Domains" link located on the top of the page. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

e. How do I create my email address?
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the "Hello"? page, click on your domain name, listed towards the bottom of the page.
  3. On the "Manage domain name"? screen, click "Email Services."?
  4. Next, scroll down to the bottom of the page to the "Add an Email Account" section.
  5. Create your email address under the appropriate field, allocate your disk space, and create a password. Press "Add."

This account should now be listed under "Active Email Accounts."
To log into Webmail for this account, go to http://webmail.Name.com. Enter your full email address as the username and your password as...your password.
You can also integrate your email account into a client such as Microsoft Outlook.



7. Domain name renewals


a. How do I know when to renew?
We will send renewal notices to the email address listed under the Administrative Contact field in your account, 90, 60, 45, 30, 15, 10, 5 and 1 days prior to expiration. Therefore, it is imperative that you keep your contact information up-to-date. If you do not keep us current on your latest contact information, you will not receive our renewal notices and you may lose your domain or have to pay an expensive redemption charge.

b. How do I renew my domain name?
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the "Hello" page, choose the "Renew A Domain" option across the top of the page.
  3. Next, checkmark the domain name(s) you wish to renew. Press "Renew."
  4. At "Your Shopping Cart," under "Domain Renewal," select the terms of your renewal (1 year, 2 years, etc.). Push "Update" and then "Checkout."
  5. On the "Billing Information" screen, enter your payment information, checkmark the "Yes, I have read..." box, and press "Place My Order."

After our system has processed your order, an order status box will appear, indicating the completion or failure of your purchase. (If your order fails, please contact us by phone or email.) You may click on the "My Account" button at this time to see that your renewal has taken effect.



c. How can I opt out of receiving renewal notifications?
  1. Log into your Name.com user account.
  2. At the "Hello" page, click the select button marked - Disable renewal notices.


8. Transfers


a. How do I transfer my domain name to Name.com?
  1. Create a free account on our website, http://www.name.com, by clicking the “New Customers Sign Up Here” link on the left hand side of the home page. If you have already created an account, please log in.
  2. Once you have created an account or logged in, please click the “Transfer to Name.com” tab located across the top of the page.
  3. On the “Transfer to Name.com” page, enter the name(s) you wish to transfer and its / their authorization code(s). Press “Continue.”
  4. Next, enter your billing information, and click “Proceed With Transfer Request.”

After completing these steps, you name(s) will be listed on our pending transfers list. Shortly thereafter, we will contact the administrative contact for your name(s) via email in order to confirm the validity of the transfer request(s). Once we receive positive confirmation from the administrative contact, we will initiate and track the transfer(s).

Transfers usually take 5-7 days to complete, but may require additional time. If you transfer(s) cannot be completed, we will let you know, via email, and attempt to refund your transfer / 1-year renewal fee.



b. How do I check my transfer status?
  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. On the “Hello” page, click on “View your pending and completed transfers.”
  3. At the “Domain Transfer Status” screen, you may check the following:
    1. “Date Submitted”:
      When did the transfer process begin?
    2. “Domain Name”:
      What name is transferring to Name.com?
    3. “Authoritative Email Address”:
      Where are actionable notices sent?
    4. “Losing Registrar”:
      Who is the current registrar of the transferring name?
    5. “Registrar Query Attempts”:
      How many times have we asked the current registrar for “Whois” contact information?
    6. “Registry Status”:
      Is the domain name active, locked, etc?
      Note: a status of “Registrar-Lock / Hold,” “clientUpdateProhibited,” or “Client Transfer Prohibited” is BAD. Contact your current registrar immediately.
    7. “Status”:
      How far along is the transfer?
      (0) Transfer process will begin with 24 hours
      (1) “Whois” information has been queried
      (2), (3) Administrator has been emailed for transfer authorization
      (4) Transfer has been authorized by Administrator
      (5) Transfer has been submitted to the central Registry for approval


c. How do I transfer a name between Name.com accounts?
For the Recipient / Buyer:
  1. If necessary, create a Name.com account.
  2. Give your Account ID, located below the "Hello, username"? on your Name.com account homepage, to the Donor / Seller.

For the Donor / Seller:

  1. Log into your Name.com account.
  2. At the "Hello"? page, click on the transferring domain name.
  3. On the "Manage domain name"? screen, select the "Account Transfer" or "Bulk transfer names from this account to another Name.com account" option.
  4. Enter the Recipient's / Buyer’s Account ID, checkmark the applicable contact types, and click "Submit."

That’s it! Your transfer will be completed within 24 hours.

Please note that, unless otherwise licensed, Name.com will not partake in the negotiation or execution of any monetary transaction that accompanies the transfer of a domain name from one Name.com customer to another. If both parties wish to use Name.com’s escrow services, please give us a call before proceeding with the internal transfer.


9. Purchase and billing


a. What forms of payment do you accept at Name.com?
Currently, Name.com purchases can be made with VISA, Mastercard, American Express, or PayPal.

b. Are other forms of payment accepted?
Fortune 1000 companies, not-for-profit organizations, and government agencies may contact us in order to set up purchase order requests. There may be additional fees associated with these transactions, however.

c. Is my credit card safe?
Yes!
Our services are encrypted to insure that all transactions are safe from illegal activity.

d. My credit/debit card transaction failed, will I be refunded?
When you make a purchase on our website, the following series of actions occurs.
  1. Our computers verify (with your credit card institution) that funds (in the amount of the purchase) are currently available in your credit card account.
  2. In response to this query, your credit card institution authorizes the use of and reserves these funds—directly within your account.
  3. Please Note: at this stage, the funds have yet to leave your account, and will not leave your account unless the next step is completed, either automatically by our computers or manually by our service personnel. If the next step is not completed, for whatever reason, the allotted funds will remain in your account. However, they will not be made available for your use for, typically, 4-5 days. Your bank will "freeze"? the funds for this length of time in order to accommodate any potential delay in the completion of the transaction.

  4. If we determine that the purchase is good, that is, not fraudulent or otherwise defective, we remove the funds from your credit card account and end the transaction.
To clarify: your purchase was interrupted between stages 2 and 3 listed above. Your funds have been authorized and set aside, but they remain in your account. Your credit card billing statement, either the online or paper form, may indicate that these funds have been used, but they have not. Within 4-5 days, the attempted purchase should drop from your billing record, and the authorized funds should return to your general pool of credit.

e. My transaction failed, why did PayPal take my money?

When you choose PayPal as your payment option on Name.com, you are transferred from the Name.com billing page to the PayPal.com site in order to make the payment. At the end of your session with PayPal.com, you must click the "Continue"? button in order to return to Name.com and complete your order.

Your order may have failed to complete because you did not press the "Continue"? button at the end of your session with PayPal. Please be sure to follow all instructions each time you use PayPal on our website, or this same failure will occur.

If you send your PayPal email receipt for the order to support@name.com, we can complete the transaction on your behalf and drop your purchase into your Name.com account. If for some reason we are unable to complete the transaction, we will issue a refund directly to your PayPal account.



f. Can I get a better price?
I'm sorry, but we do not offer special pricing. Our prices are already quite competitive, and we cannot offer any discounts at this time.

g. Can I get a refund and/or cancel services if I don't need my domain anymore?
Domain name registrations cannot be canceled.

We do not auto-renew domain registrations. Unless you actively renew your names, they will expire and be deleted. Once a domain has been registered, the terms of registration cannot be cancelled for any reason.

h. Can I change my domain name?
Once a domain has been registered, its name cannot be changed for any reason.

10. Premium Domains


a. What is a Premium Domain name?
A Premium Domain name is a domain which is currently registered by a third party and has superior relevance to your business, stronger branding potential, receive greater type-in traffic and are easier to remember than names which might be available through standard registration channels.

b. Why do I want to own a Premium Domain name?
Acquiring the right domain name is an important first step in building a successful online business. A Premium Domain name can improve your marketing and visibility, build credibility, protect your brand and acquire more traffic.

c. Why are Premium Domain names so expensive?
As good domains become harder to find, both the demand and cost of Premium Domain names increase. Prices for Premium Domains vary and are often based on marketability, spelling, traffic, and economic trends. Premium Domain names have more marketing potential than others, as many already receive significant traffic. Your business can reap the benefits from the domain's established presence and attract customers.

d. Where do Premium Domain names come from?
Premium Domain names are owned by individuals or companies who have previously registered the domain names and are now interested in selling them.

e. What is included with Premium Domain registration?
With Name.com you get all of the same services you've come to rely on with standard registrations.

f. How do I manage my Premium Domain name?
Just like with any other Name.com registration, you manage your new Premium Domain directly in your Name.com Control Panel by logging in with your username and password at www.name.com.

g. Can I transfer my Premium Domain name?
Yes. You can transfer a Premium Domain purchased at Name.com to another registrar sixty (60) days after purchase.
